CPI 2007

The 2007 Corruption Perceptions Index looks at perceptions of public sector corruption in 180 countries and territories - the greatest country coverage of any CPI to date – and is a composite index that draws on 14 expert opinion surveys. It scores countries on a scale from zero to ten, with zero indicating high levels of perceived corruption and ten indicating low levels of perceived corruption.

In 2007 Bulgaria ranks 64th with an index of 4.1. The country demonstrates minimal progress in comparison to 2006 when its index was 4.0. Bulgaria was included in the Corruption Perceptions Index for the first time in 1998 with an index of 2.9 and its index has been improving slowly ever since.

Denmark, Finland and New Zealand share the top
score of 9.4 while Somalia and Myanmar are at the lowest position with 1.4.
